Hinduism

Hinduism is the third largest religion in the world consisting of 900 million believers. Hinduism was founded in 1500 BC in India, which is 80% Hindu. Hinduism refers to many traditions that are related and have common themes, but do not makeup a unified set of beliefs or practices.
Hinduism does not have a founder and most of its sacred texts a re unknown. Hinduism is described to be the result of religious development in India for almost four thousand years. For this reason, Hinduism does not have one, organized system. Some Hindus follow one god, such as Shiva or Vishnu, while others look inside themselves for the divine Self. Most Hindus agree on one thing which is the existence of Brahman. Brahman is the one unifying principle in Hinduism that is behind the entire religion. Most Hindus have respect for two things: the Vedas and the Brahmans. The Vedas are a collection of ancient sacred texts and the Brahmans are the priest class.
Being Hindu can mean many different things, for some it means being devoted to one god, the duties of family life, or meditation. Hinduism is appealing to many people because it is so flexible.
Some religions that came from Hinduism are: Buddhism, Jainism, and Hare Krishna.
